SAVING WALDEN’S WORLD IS
SAILING FOR SUSTAINABILITY
Here’s what we have planned…
The Film Tour
In July and August, Jim Merkel will be taking “Saving Walden’s World” to a series of screenings by sailboat, ‘Sailing for Sustainability,’ with the goal of arriving without fossil fuels to as many of our Maine events as possible. We will use an electric vehicle when necessary, highlighting one of the UN’s 17 Sustainable Development Goals at each screening, arriving at the UN in NYC for the Summit of the Future meeting September 22-23.
Our first screening on this tour was in Belfast, Maine on May 14, focused on Goal #1, No Poverty. Our second stop was in Fredericton, New Brunswick, on May 29, supporting Goal #2, Zero Hunger. This tour will continue with extended destinations throughout the US for the balance of 2024.

The goal of this tour is to increase awareness, create action and share information on alternative futures that we can each contribute to in our own way.
We Are Seeking Sponsors to Help Us:
-Offer financial support along with important endorsements
-Provide communication with members and affiliates
-Actively join us and share your own message at screenings with your own table
-Do you know someone in any of the above communities who might support our effort? If so, please get in touch with us at savingwalden12@gmail.com.
2024 and Beyond
Our goal is to raise enough funds and interest to begin international distribution in 2025, including educational distribution and study guides. We see engaging younger generations as key to better pathways for protecting the planet.
